High Commission of IndiaVictoria, Seychelles

The design was selected in an international architectural design competition organised by the High Commission of India in Seychelles. The High Commission is located in a prestigious precinct of Victoria, Mahe. The design of the Indian High Commission therefore puts forth country’s distinct identity as a vibrant, technologically equipped and economically strong modern country. The design was also a challenge since the site is steeply sloping, with a 20m level (almost 6 stories) difference between the front & rear roads. The chancery and cultural centre building has been located towards the front. Segregation of functions has been level-wise – the chancery offices are planned at the upper two levels, whereas visa and cultural centre activities are located at lower levels. Access to the residential building has planned from the rear road, and the residences steer clear of the roof of chancery so as to provide uninterrupted views of the ocean beyond.
